Easter Holiday: IGP Orders AIGs, CPs To Beef Up Security

In order to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Easter celebration, the Inspector-General of Police,  IGP Solomon Arase
has directed all Zonal AIGs and State Command Commissioners of Police to take all necessary measures in ensuring the provision of adequate security for worshippers, travellers, picnickers and all citizens across the country before, during and after the festive season.
In an Easter message sent to LEADERSHIP Friday, the IGP also directed the Command Commissioners of Police to personally ensure that all key and vulnerable points within their jurisdictions, including places of worship, recreation centres, motor parks, highways, financial institutions and all places of public resort are adequately and effectively protected.
IGP Arase wishes, in the spirit of the season, to salute officers and men of the Force for their courage, dedication, tireless and selfless services to Nigerians and the country, especially, in the face of current challenges.
Meanwhile, in a swift reaction to the recent killing in Agatu in Benue State, allegedly perpetrated by herdsmen, the IGP, who visited the area where he assessed the extent of damage caused during the clash and the impact on the Agatu people has ordered the immediate deployment of two units of Police Mobile Force to the area, to reinforce the Unit on ground, while additional Police operational vehicles were also sent.
